After struggling with confidence issues yet again, Nellie was finally sent home, and while I understand the decision from a logical standpoint, I cannot figure out why Ryan Murphy made the call that he did. Yes, it took Nellie a little longer to get going, but she consistently gave good performances during the music videos (aside from a few hiccups), and her Last Chance Performances were by far the best of the bunch (her duet with Blake is still be the best thing this show or Gleehas ever done). Plus, she has an amazing voice and the underdog quality that's the hallmark of the mothership, but she was sent packing because she's still getting comfortable in her own skin. Huh?
Admittedly, some of the other contestants were just as young as Nellie, and they didn't have the same kind of struggles, but there was just something about her that made me want to root for her and that's something that very few of the others have been able to do. Especially not Lily or Ali. The fact that Lily was saved over Nellie was just salt in the wound because she has not given the audience anything to like about her, and while I know that editing can sway our perceptions, the editors only used what Lily gave them. So, let's just keep the egotistical diva around for one more week while we throw one of the few likable hopefuls under the bus. Way to go Ryan. And don't get me started on her boring version of Adele's "Someone Like You."
At least I don't have a reason to keep watching this show from this point forward. Well, scratch that. I still like the remaining boys, and I do enjoy cheering against Lily and Ali, so there's that. Hate watch it is then. And who knows, maybe I'll try to suppress my rage long enough to keep these recaps going, but we'll just have to wait and see. #TeamNellie!
P.S. - I know that my love for Nellie and hatred for Lily colored my thoughts about this week's episode, and that's why it was a rant instead of a recap.

I agree with everything you wrote. I am so seriously pissed off right now, that they eliminated the one true underdog of the show, Nellie. It's just so ridiculous! They keep on ranting about how they want an underdog, someone you root for - and then they choose freaking LILY over Nellie?! Lily is a complete douchebag! She's arrogant and nobody wants to root for her! Nellie is the most relatable person on The Glee Project, furthermore she's more relatable than any character on 'Glee'! WOW, I'm angry! Anyway, thanks, and keep writing them reviews!

This one's going to be hard to get past. What I don't get is, if Ryan Murphy couldn't figure out how to write for Nellie, then I seriously question is ability as a writer. How can he not create a character who's a young woman uncomfortable with sexuality in an overly-sexualized world? Heck, she did his job for him, but he was too short-sighted to see it because he was too distracted by all of the big personalities that we've already seen before. Gah!
Then again, Glee's never been able to effectively write young, female characters with the exception of Rachel and Santana. Just looke at what they did with Quinn, Mercedes and Tina.
