The more I think about it, the more I believe that last week's "Hands" should've been the penultimate episode of Season 4 instead of episode 10 because it's a hard act to follow, and unfortunately "Call of Duty" wasn't able to keep the momentum going.
There was a lot to like about "Call of Duty." The scene where Juice finally comes clean to Chibs felt earned, but I'm glad that it didn't end there as he still called to check in with the cops. Part of me still thinks Juice may not make it to the end of the season (I had a weird feeling about Chibs after their talk), but I'm interested to see how it turns out.
Also, how good was Opie this episode? Seeing him react to the sight of his father's dead body and the info dump that Unser laid on him was captivating and heartbreaking. Opie's always been one of those characters that could rise above the Sons even if he's capable of bad things, which is going to make the showdown between him and Clay even more memorable. Much like Juice, I can see a scenario where Opie ends up dead which would be a damn shame.
Amongst all of the good stuff there were plot threads that were either reintroduced or just added to the mix which gave "Call of Duty" a very muddled feel to it. Why was Wendy back? Charming Heights still exists? Tom Arnold? I totally understand that Kurt Sutter wants to tie up the lose ends, but none of the these elements were all that interesting (with the exception of Bobby and Otto's falling out) and it didn't help that most of them were put on the back burner for so long.
"Call of Duty" by no means derailed Season 4, but it did take a tiny step back after the great episode from last week. Tension is still high, and I'm still trying to figure out where the show will go next, so that's definitely a good thing.
