Today, the nominees for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced, and for me they were all about one thing: Glee. The musical dramedy has taken the world by storm, and today it picked up 19 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series. While all of the Emmy love will add fuel to the Glee backlash, I still think the show deserved all of the love. Sure, the latter part of the season wasn't stellar, but it was still better than most shows on TV.
All four major acting categories had a Glee-ky presence. Lea Michele got the nod for Leading Actress, Matthew Morrison was nominated for Leading Actor, Chris Colfer got some well-deserved recognition and picked up a nom for Supporting Actor, and of course Jane Lynch picked up a nomination for Supporting Actress. While Lynch has the best chance of taking home a statue, all four deserved to be on the Emmy short list.
The series regulars were not the only ones to get nominations because three guest stars also picked up nods for their roles on Glee. Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, and Mike O'Malley all got acknowledged for their stint in Lima, OH. Cheno's April Rhodes became annoying towards the end of her run, so I'm OK if she doesn't win.
The men on the other hand have me torn. I think Mike O'Malley's portrayal of Burt Hummel was both funny and heart-breaking, and he might be the best dad on TV. On the other hand, NPH needs to win an Emmy, and since he keeps being shut-out for Supporting Actor, his guest spot on Glee might be his best chance to win. Now, if he ends up winning two this year, that will be legen...wait for it...dary (sorry, I just had to do it). In the end, I'll be happy if either take home the Emmy.
Other Odds and Ends:
A lot of people have their panties in a wad because Community didn't get any love. While I love Community, I think it's a little overrated and isn't Emmy worthy right now. The only real snub I can see when it comes to Community is Danny Pudi being left out of the Supporting Actor race. He's probably more deserving than John Cryer, but that's because I cannot see the appeal of Two and a Half Men. An Alison Bree nom would have been cool though.
Apparently, I need to catch-up on Modern Family and Sons of Anarchy. The former because the ABC comedy received so many acting nominations, and the latter because tons of people were pissed because Katey Sagal was left out.
Friday Night Lights, Connie Britton, and Kyle Chandler finally get some major Emmy love! It may sound cliche, but FNL is the best show nobody watches. I'm sure the nominations for Britton and Chandler have more to do with the fact that FNL is coming to an end next season, but I'll take it.
After I read the nominations, I wasn't ecstatic, mad, or surprised, but this was the first time I've ever actually cared about the Emmys (besides the time NPH hosted). To be honest, Glee has a lot to do with it, and while I don't expect the FOX show to sweep, I do hope it gets its fair share of statues.

I'm really enjoying FNL (only on season 2) but already know that Kyle and Connie deserve those noms!
Also, you should definitely start watching Modern Family. In my opinion, it's the best show on tv right now. Period. Every episode has been hysterically funny and it hasn't faltered.
I'm glad that you're enjoying FNL. Season 3 is probably the best to date, so you have something to look forward to.
I tried watching a few episodes of Modern Family, but it was too much like The Office, which I've been over since S4, so I lost interest. I have been meaning to catchup though this summer.
