Show Review: BETTER OFF TED

ABC rolled out its new sitcom, Better Off Ted, after Scrubs, and I think the two shows will work well together. I thought the first episode of Ted was pretty good. If the pilot is an accurate representation of the rest of the show, then Ted is kind of like a cross of The Office, Eureka, with a little bit of The Big Bang Theory, and a dash of Scrubs. It's just quirky enough that it's funny, but not so much that it's just odd.

Jay Harrington is solid as the title character Ted, and I'm glad to see Andrea Anders (as Linda) back on the screen (I only know her from Joey, and I never caught any episodes of The Class). Of course there's the whole "will they, won't they" crutch that every show needs in today's day and age, but I'm not going to hold it against the show. I'm also liking the chemistry between the two genius partners, Lem & Phil (played by Malcolm Barrett & Jonathan Slavin respectively).

ABC gets a lot of crap for canceling fan favorites Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone, but give the network some credit; they're still putting out some risky shows like Ted. Sure, this one might have the same fate as the former shows, but you never know.
